Case 1: A successful otoplasty relies on completely drawing unwanted attention away from the ears. This requires just the right amount of movement of the ears to create naturally-contoured ears that no longer protrude but that also don’t look excessively flat or pasted down.

Case 2: Prominent ears can be a noticeable distraction from otherwise pretty and balanced features. The objective of otoplasty in not to create ears that look overly flat or that go too far in the other direction. Instead, a successful otoplasty allows ears to do exactly what they should and that is to go unnoticed.

Case 3: Protrusive ears can often make people self-conscious, especially when there is some asymmetry. This up and coming young actor wore his hair long for years to cover up his prominent ears. He was happy enough with his left ear but wanted to change the position of his right ear to match the other side. The goal of otoplasty in his case was to achieve that symmetry he desired. The results were great and he finally got the big haircut he had always wanted.

Case 4: This patient felt uncomfortable wearing her hair back due to her somewhat prominent ears. A conservative set back of her ears succeeded in taking attention away from her ears by bringing them into the vertical plane. At the same time, a rhinoplasty to reduce nasal tip width and fullness helped to achieve a beautiful balance for her.

Case 5: For a guy who likes to shave his head, protrusive ears can appear more prominent. The major goal for him was to bring his ears back into a vertical plane and make them less noticeable while still looking natural. He was very happy with the results of his Profiles Otoplasty.

Case 6: Typical results of an over-aggressive rhinoplasty can be seen here wherein the tip cartilages have become more vertical in orientation, causing a pinched appearance and hanging columella. Revision rhinoplasty involved tip reconstruction with batten grafts and repair of valve collapse. The bridge line was also smoothened and straightened. In addition, bilateral Otoplasty brought his ears into a vertical plane to make them far less noticeable on front view.

Case 7: This patient was bothered by his prominent ears and a sense of width to his nose that made it feel bulky and unrefined in his view. While still preserving his ethnic identity, he was able to achieve a meaningful improvement in nasal balance. Bringing his ears back into the vertical plane helped to make them less noticeable and remove them as a source of focus for him.

Case 8: A combination approach was used here to create a really meaningful but completely natural transformation. Otoplasty made prominent ears all but disappear from the field of view and no longer distract or draw attention. At the same time, rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, and neck liposuction accomplished were able to remove a nasal hump and overprojection while improving chin and neck laxity to achieve a nice overall balance.

Case 9: This patient likes to style her hair short on the sides and was always bothered by the angle and asymmetry of her ears. The upper pole of her ears was protrusive, more so on the left which tended to show up in photos. Post-operative improvement in symmetry and position help to eliminate her ears as a point of distraction for her.

Case 10: Ear asymmetry was the main issue for this patient which is seen especially well on profile and rear views. The antihelical fold was less well formed on her right ear, causing increased cupping and protrusion compared to the left side. She is very happy with her new ears and now is very comfortable wearing her hair back without being self-conscious.
